Last year the FSU fans were out in full force to welcome their new coach.
With the extremely sub-par 1st season, will they come out again?
If you remember, last years attendance figure of 60,934 set an all-time record for an FSU spring game! This is an extremely important year to see if coach Taggart can right the ship and prove that he is the man for the job. After changes in both the coaching staff and the roster makeup, it will be interesting to see how things transpire. Will these players buy into and/or grasp this system?
In my opinion, we must remember the fact that this is just a typical spring game.
What were we really expecting to see? My guess is the coaches are trying to put the pieces together and evaluate performances under a simulated game experience.
There are several things to look at before any conclusions can be made. In place is new OC Kendall Briles, as well as a new offensive line coach. The O line has been a major issue for years.
A crowd of around 27,000 (almost 61,000 last year) watched both squads combined for almost 800 yards passing.
What I saw was improved offensive line play and much better route running by the receivers. What does this mean? At this point putting together the pieces of a new system. How do I judge it? We’ll just have to wait and see how things take shape, starting August 31st in Jacksonville, when the Noles open against Boise State.
Until then, I will reserve judgement!
