No. 2 Clemson escapes with a win at Kyle Field

Jimbo Fisher and Dabo Swinney previously knew each other. They used to be head football coaches within the Atlantic Coast Conference.

This off-season, Fisher decided to make a career change, as he left the Florida State Seminoles to become the new Texas A&M Aggies head coach. Each coach had four wins against each other until Saturday night.

 

Swinney guided his No. 2 ranked Clemson Tigers to a 28-26 win over the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday night at Kyle Field in College Station, Texas.

This was the first meeting between the two teams since 2005. Clemson is now on a two-game win streak over A&M, as they won 25-24 on September 3rd, 2005.

Before that 2005 meeting, the Aggies won three straight games in the series. They won in 1973, 1974, and 2004.

Tigers quarterback Kelly Bryant went 12 of 17 for 205 yards, including a touchdown pass. Freshman Trevor Lawrence went 5 of 9 for 93 yards, including a touchdown.

Bryant also had 15 carries for 54 yards and a touchdown. Travis Etienne had eight carries for 44 yards and a touchdown.

Tee Higgins had three receptions for 123 yards and a touchdown. Amari Rodgers had five receptions for 73 yards. Hunter Renfrow had four receptions for 59 yards. Diondre Overton had two receptions for 20 yards and a touchdown.

Aggies quarterback Kellen Mood went 23 of 40 for 430 yards, including three touchdowns.

Mond also had 10 carries for 33 yards. Trayveon Williams had 17 carries for 31 yards.

Kendrick Rogers had seven receptions for 120 yards and two touchdowns. Camron Buckley had four receptions for 93 yards. Jhamon Ausbon had three receptions for 61 yards. Quartney Davis also had two receptions for 39 yards and a touchdown.

Clemson scored 14 points in the second half. Bryant hit Overton for an eight-yard touchdown. Etienne also scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown.

The Aggies had 23 points in the same amount of time. Mond hit Rogers for a nine-yard touchdown. He also hit Davis for a 14-yard touchdown.

Mond hit Rogers for their second touchdown of the second half, as he scored on a 24-yard touchdown. However, following this touchdown, they were not able to convert a two-point conversion.

Daniel LaCamera also made a 40-yard field goal.

The Tigers led 14-3 at halftime. Bryant scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown. Lawrence also hit Higgins for a 64-yard touchdown.

LaCamera also made a 40-yard field goal in the first half.
