Ezequiel Barco named in 22 under 22 list by MLS

Ezequiel Barco was named to the 22 best players under 22 years old by Major League Soccer

Major League announced its 2019 class of the best 22 players under the age of 22 around the league.

For Atlanta, midfielder Ezequiel Barco was placed in the No. 2 spot behind LAFC’s Diego Rossi.

In last year’s list, Barco was placed in the sixth spot but after a solid season with the Five Stripes and a great showing at the U-20 World Cup, the Argentine climbed up in the rankings.

In 2019, Barco played in 18 MLS games and scored four goals and had five assists.

Earlier last week, it was reported that Sporting CP from Portugal was interested in Barco but that rumor seems to be over. It was also rumored that Italian powerhouses, Roma and Inter, are interested in buying Barco but until the 2020 summer transfer window. Should Barco continue to impress fans and scouts with his talent, there will be more teams interested in taking Barco to the European continent.

A player that fell out of the rankings was Andrew Carleton, who was placed in the 18th spot last year but this year he was not included. Carleton was the club’s first homegrown signing but has yet to fully become a contributor for the first team.
