Auburn Swing Blow for Blow with #1 Georgia

It was a true battle in Jordan Hare Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Auburn Tigers took on the defending National Champions, the Georgia Bulldogs. After blow for blow, the Bulldogs squeezed by winning 27-20.

The Tigers played a tough game against the Bulldogs, causing two crucial turnovers, which led to a huge Auburn touchdown. Jaylin Simpson had a big interception in the first half, and Jalen Mcleod recovered a fumble right out of halftime. The momentum swung Auburn’s way Saturday, but the Bulldogs turned it on, feeding Brock Bowers. Bowers came alive in the second half, making tremendous one-handed catches and breaking tackles downfield.

Auburn didn’t back down from the champs; they matched the energy throughout the second half despite the Bulldogs heating up and tied the game 20-20. In the final moments of the game, Georgia capitalized. Carson Beck hit Brock Bowers for a 40-yard touchdown.

Auburn had to make their next drive count, but the game squeezed away from them during the drive. The Tigers couldn’t hold onto the ball, resulting in a turnover on downs.

Head coach Hugh Freeze says, “This one hurts, it hurts, but despite this loss, I am still proud of this team!” Many other teammates were glad to see how the offense responded to last week’s shake-up. Jaylin Simpson says, “ We found out about our offense. They will fight”.

Jalen Mcleod said, “He was very glad the offense could make a bounce back as well’.

Showcasing what this team is made of in all three phases was necessary for this team. It showed that they could play with any and helped build confidence in the locker. The Auburn Tigers enter the bye week next looking to regroup and re-patch some injuries from previous games.
