Atlanta United waives Luiz Fernando

Atlanta United announced today it has waived midfielder Luiz Fernando. With the departure of Fernando, United clears an international spot in its roster. The spot is expected to be filled by newly signed Jurgen Damm.

“We wish Luiz nothing but the best of luck in his future and are grateful for his service to the club over the last two years,” Atlanta United Vice President and Technical Director Carlos Bocanegra said.

Fernando only made one appearance for United, coming in as a sub against Motagua in the CONCACAF Champions League in February of 2020.
