Wildcats Defeat Tigers to Take 2021 Citrus Bowl Crown

The No. 14 Northwestern Wildcats defeated the unranked Auburn Tigers in the Vrbo Citrus Bowl. The Wildcats won 35-19 over the Tigers at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida.

This was the second-ever meeting between the two schools. The other meeting also happened in the state of Florida.

On January 1st, 2010, the Tigers defeated the Wildcats 38-35 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The teams played each other in the Outback Bowl.

With the win, the Wildcats improved to 7-2 on the season. The loss dropped the Tigers to 6-5 in 2020. Northwestern quarterback Peyton Ramsey went 24 of 35 for 291 yards. He had three touchdown passes.

Cam Porter had 33 carries for 98 yards and a touchdown. John Raine had six receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown. Tigers quarterback Bo Nix went 25 of 42 for 292 yards. He had one touchdown pass.

Nix had 10 carries for 32 yards. Elijah Canion had three receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown. The Wildcats led 14-0 before the Tigers even scored in the game.

Porter and Ramsey scored a rushing touchdown each for the Wildcats. Riley Lees, Raine, and Ramaud Chiaokhiao-Bowman also caught touchdown receptions.

Canion caught a touchdown reception for the Tigers. D.J. Williams also scored a rushing touchdown. Following Williams’s touchdown, the two-point conversion attempt failed. Kicker Anders Carlson also made two field goals.
