SEC Championship preview: Auburn vs. Georgia

On Saturday afternoon, No. 6 Georgia Bulldogs faces the No. 4 Auburn Tigers in the SEC Championship game. The game will kick off at 4 pm at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia on CBS.

The Tigers come into this game with a 10-2 record. The Bulldogs have an 11-1 record.

This is a neutral site game for both teams. This is the Bulldogs second neutral site game of the season, as they defeated the Florida Gators 42-7 at EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Florida on October 28th, 2017.

This will be the first neutral site game of the season for the Tigers.

According to Consensus Analysis, the Tigers have a 55% chance to win this game in their public poll. However, in its expert poll, the Bulldogs have a 73% chance to win this game.

This game will likely impact the College Football Playoffs. The winner of this game will be a lock in the Top 4 of the playoffs; however, the loser will be eliminated and miss out on the playoffs.

The Tigers dismantled the Bulldogs 40-17 on November 11th. Prior to that game, Auburn did not win in this rivalry since November 16th, 2013 when they won 43-38.

The Bulldogs have won two straight games since the loss to the Tigers. Both of these wins were blowouts against the Kentucky Wildcats and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Auburn has won five straight games since they were defeated 27-23 by the LSU Tigers on October 14th, 2017. The only close game of the five came last weekend when they defeated then-No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide 26-14 in the Iron Bowl in Auburn, Alabama.

Both teams are averaging nearly the same amount of points per game. Georgia is averaging 35.5 points per game, while Auburn is averaging 36.7 points per game.

Bulldogs quarterback Jake Fromm has gone 129 of 208 for 1,990 passing yards. He has 19 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Nick Chubb has 178 carries for 1,098 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns. Javon Wims has 38 receptions for 631 receiving yards and six touchdowns.

Tigers quarterback Jarrett Stidham has gone 202 of 295 for 2,682 passing yards. He has 16 touchdowns and four interceptions.

Kerryon Johnson, who was injured in the Iron Bowl and may be limited in this game, has 250 carries for 1,276 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns. Ryan Davis has 69 receptions for 703 passing yards and five touchdowns.
