The preseason for the Atlanta Falcons has come to an end. The Falcons wrapped up the preseason against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Final score 24-0, Pittsburgh.
The Steelers started hot in tonight’s game as they played their starters for majority of the first quarter, as the Falcons did not have their starters in. Pittsburgh scored on the opening drive with a one-yard touchdown by Najee Harris. They then capitalized on the short field from a punt return by Calvin Austin III for 21 yards. Atlanta struggled to get something going during the first half but found life in the second half.
Logan Woodside took charge of the offense in the second half and kept the offense going as he made a Houdini pass to Parker Hesse to keep the drive alive. Woodside was 24/31 in pass completion. Once again, for the second week in a row, Demarcco Hellams from the University of Alabama is bringing the heat on defense for the Falcons. Hellams had a total of eight tackles in tonight’s preseason game. Recent signee Frank Ginda also had a solid game, with ten tackles.
But the preseason is finally over, and it’s time to get to the real deal. Atlanta opens up the season against the Carolina Panthers on September 10th. The Panthers are another team that is in the NFC South. It’ll be big for the Falcons to start the season off on a high note and get a jump start to the division. Last year, Atlanta lost their home opener in a close game to the New Orleans Saints, 27-26. Let’s see if the tables will turn for the Atlanta Falcons. So, without further ado, let the games begin!
