Oh, what a day for the Atlanta United Fans who attended the festivities associated with the Delta/Atlanta United announcement of their partnership called Paint the Town Red and Black with the unveiling of a wallscape held at the Universal Joint Bar a family-friendly pub located in historic Oakhurst Village in Decatur, Georgia. Owner Marc Brennan was delighted to host the event.
Delta has become the official airlines to Atlanta’s favorite soccer team through the 2020 season. The event was perfectly timed with the Solar Eclipse fans were supplied specially designed glasses to enjoy the historical moment. Julieta McCurry Managing Director Marketing-Communications for Delta Air Lines better known as “Atlanta’s hometown airline” was accompanied by Five Stripe Stars Josef Martinez, Yamil Asad, and Michael Parkhurst to make the announcement. She said “they are a new team in the city, they have taken over with their energy, It’s a real celebration, everybody coming together as a city with the team and supporting them, soccer is a global game and they are a global airline the partnership just made sense.”
The players added finishing touches to the Mural and signed autographs for the many fans in attendance. It was an up close and personal experience that each fan will cherish. They stood in line patiently waited until it was their turn presented memorabilia to be signed and posed for pictures with their favorite player. To captivate the moment team representatives were on hand to snap photos using fan cell phones to make the experience as personal as possible of course some preferred the selfie.
The fan favorite as he is everywhere he goes Josef Martinez was on a time clock due to the heat but to please fans during his first Autograph Session, he broke the rules and stayed longer. Believe it or not, he didn’t draw a Red Card from the referee. Currently, the passionate scoring machine is out of play due to an injury and wouldn’t mind a reprimand or two.
With this special event Atlanta United with its new partner Delta, they have truly won a special place in the hearts of fans and the city of Atlanta.
