Colin Sexton has officially announced that he has declared for the 2018 NBA draft.
Sexton had a very successful freshmen season and helped bring some excitement back to Alabama men basketball. The Crimson Tide was able to reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2012 and win a tournament game for the first time since 2006 in large part to the play of Sexton.
Many predict that Sexton will be one of the first guards off the board, but at one time he was not getting heavily recruited and one coach reach out to change that, that coach was nonother than Alabama men’s basketball coach, Avery Johnson. Johnson was able to beat the competition to Sexton and build a connection that eventually lead Sexton to commit to Alabama. The entire Alabama basketball fan base was excited to see the outstanding freshmen class Johnson was able to pull in, lead by Sexton and boy did they answer the call by getting to 20 wins and reaching the NCAA tournament.
At this point there is one thing for sure, Sexton has a lot of potential. He has great speed and can get to the rack at will. He is also an artist in the lane. Sexton has a decent shot, but has room to improve his consistency.
He is also an excellent teammate, and it showed during his time in Tuscaloosa. He constantly thanks his teammates in post-game interviews. He even invited them onto the stage when he announced his decision to declare for the NBA draft.
The Georgia-native must now turn his attention to the NBA draft combine.
