Atlanta United learns CONCACAF opponent

The 2020 CONCACAF Champions League draw took place Monday night and Atlanta United learned its first opponent of the tournament.

The Five Stripes will be facing Motagua from Honduras in the Round-of-16, this will be the team’s first time traveling to the Central American country.

The road to the final for Atlanta would be a tough one as they could potentially face Club America in the quarterfinals and then either Cruz Azul or LAFC in the semifinals.

For other MLS teams, LAFC will be facing Club Leon in the first round. New York City FC was paired up with Costa Rica’s San Carlos, Seattle Sounders will also travel to Honduras to face CD Olimpia and Montreal Impact will take on Costa Rica’s Deportivo Saprissa.

The first leg of the first round will take place between Feb. 18-20 of 2020 and the second leg will be between Feb. 25-27. A full schedule will be released later by CONCACAF.
